ABOUT ANTON
BIOGRAPHY
.
Anton Byrne-Carter, born in 1989 in the northwest of England, is a British artist whose abstract works explore the interplay between classical art and contemporary society. His creations are deeply influenced by the masterpieces of Dutch and Baroque painters, as well as the rich narratives of Greek mythology. Through his art, Byrne-Carter reimagines these timeless pieces, presenting them in a new light that challenges and provokes thought about modern-day issues.
His latest piece, a profound interpretation of the Judgment of Paris, delves into the themes of beauty, choice, and consequence, drawing parallels between ancient myth and today’s societal dynamics. This work, like much of his portfolio, is born from a unique process rooted in his personal experiences with insomnia. Byrne-Carter’s sleepless nights have led to a fascination with the distortion of memory, which he skilfully translates into his abstract art.
Byrne-Carter eschews the convenience of digital imagery, instead opting to rely on his internalised visions of classical works. This method allows him to create abstract representations that feel both timeless and innovative, capturing the essence of the original masterpieces while transforming them through the lens of memory and subjective experience.
Anton Byrne-Carter’s work stands as a testament to the enduring power of classical art and its relevance in contemporary discourse. Through his abstract interpretations, he invites viewers to reconsider and reengage with historical narratives, offering a fresh perspective that bridges the gap between the past and the present.
Anton's work has been added to private collections in the UK, Middle East, across Europe and Japan
